Homework Policy

I understand that many families are busy after school.  I also believe that students should work hard during the school day and enjoy family life at home.  That being said, there are times for homework.  I will always give the students work to complete in class.  If they are working effectively, they should complete their work during classtime.  If they do not complete it during class, they must take it home to finish.  For example, I may give a practice math worksheet during math class.  If they do not complete it during class, it becomes homework.  This is also true for assignments and ongoing projects.  If they are falling behind in assignments, they need to work at home as well.  This promotes and encourages time management and strong work habits.  Please refer to the blog for assignments, tests, and other expectations.

Practicing the current math concepts and memorizing the times tables are always recommended.  Reading at home is also very important to improve all around literacy skills.

Finally, I have a vocabulary building program that requires the students to learn the words and definitions.  The quizzes are every Friday and the words are given on Mondays.  I post the words on the blog.  Therefore, vocabulary studying is also on the list to do for homework.
